Lesson Programs
Blackstone Stables offers a variety of quiet, well-trained lesson horses and ponies available to new riders. Chosen for their temperament, experience, and consistency, our school horses provide a safe and polished learning experience while developing the correct riding and horsemanship skills. Each horse is capable of advancing alongside the rider as their abilities progress.
We also make it easy to get started with minimal investment. We provide well-maintained tack, grooming equipment, and helmets for new riders. It is required that you wear long pants and closed-toed shoes—preferably boots with a 1–1½ inch heel. We welcome riders of all ages, and can offer lessons for children as young as 3 years old.
***Please allow 30 minutes both before and after your lesson time to groom, tack, cool down, and put your horse away. Parents are required to supervise kids during during this time. When trainers are in the arena teaching, they will not be able to supervise the children. Thank you!
Private Lessons (45 minutes) - $65 (on our horse) or $55 (on your own horse)
Evaluation lessons are required for all new students to ensure accurate skill assessment and proper placement. Private one-on-one instruction is available in both English and Western disciplines, with a focus on individualized progress and excellence.
Group Lessons (45 minutes) - $55 (on our horse) or $45 (on your own horse)
Blackstone Stables offers a variety of well-trained lesson horses and ponies for riders who do not yet have their own horse. Our school horses are quiet, patient, and experienced, making them ideal for teaching the basics of riding, solid horsemanship fundamentals, and beyond. They are well suited to grow alongside riders as skills progress.
Blackstone Training Program
Our professional training program is thoughtfully tailored to each horse and rider. From foundational training to advanced show preparation, our experienced staff provides attentive, detail-oriented instruction. We also offer guidance in selecting the ideal horse or pony to suit your long-term goals.

Completed in 2023, our facility is a newly constructed, thoughtfully designed, spacious environment created with the both the comfort and enjoyment of the horse, boarder, and rider in mind.
Located just minutes off the beaten path at 4770 Green Rd. in Howell, MI, Blackstone Stables sits on 56 acres of beautiful countryside. Our facility features three barns, including a main barn with 38 stalls, and an 80′ × 200′ indoor arena. We offer 13 turnout pastures, and 7 spacious pastures with run-in sheds—providing exceptional space and comfort for both horses and riders with grassy fields and trails.
